Stamp
River Provincial Park is an exciting stop along the road from
Port Alberni to the West Coast of the Island.
The site is aesthetically pleasing, with old growth forest on both
sides of the river and easy access to the low riverbank. A number
of trails provide walking access to river viewpoints and pleasant
walking through open forest areas.
In the summer
and fall, salmon jumping the waterfalls and navigating the fish
ladders provide a spectacular show for all visitors. In July and
August, more than 300,000 Sockeye salmon pass through Stamp Falls.
Impressive canyon waterfalls below the fish ladders and river rapids
above provide exciting viewing opportunities.
The Stamp River is one of the best Steelhead fishing streams in
BC, with Money's Pool being one of the prime fishing areas on the
river. Fishing can be enjoyed both from the riverbank and by wading
to river pools.
This park is
located in central Vancouver Island approximately 14 km northwest
of the town of Port Alberni,
off Beaver Creek Road.
